Looking for a creative, fun, and effective family literacy program to offer your clients? 1, 2 Buckle My Shoe, provides accessible, relevant early literacy information, and interactive activities, where caregivers and children grow their literacy and numeracy skills together in a fun, supportive setting.
1, 2 Buckle My Shoe is designed for children aged 3-5 years and includes the participation of the parent or caregiver: “Assisting parents with their literacy development will impact not only the adults but their children as well, as they transfer skills” (Phillips, 2006).
This training includes information on:
- characteristics of adult learners
- cultural competence
- creating a safe place for learning
- encouraging participation
- program planning
- evaluation
- program curriculum
