Looking for a creative, fun, and effective family literacy program to offer your clients? 1, 2, Buckle My Shoe, provides accessible, relevant early literacy information, and interactive activities, where caregivers and children grow their literacy and numeracy skills together in a fun, supportive setting.
1, 2, Buckle My Shoe is designed for children aged 3-5 years and includes the participation of the parent or caregiver: “Assisting parents with their literacy development will impact not only the adults but their children as well, as they transfer skills” (Phillips, 2006).
This training includes information on:
- characteristics of adult learners
- cultural competence
- creating a safe place for learning
- encouraging participation
- program planning
- evaluation
- program curriculum
