Looking for a creative, fun, and effective family literacy program to offer your clients? Learn & Soar is a play-based family literacy program with interactive activities where both parents and children can grow their literacy skills together in a fun, supportive setting. The 8-week theme-based program allows families to learn and grow literacy skills through songs, rhymes, stories, literacy games, and activities.
Learn & Soar is designed for children aged 3 – 5 years and includes the participation of the parent or caregiver: “When families access literacy opportunities in the community, such as public libraries, early learning centres and family literacy events, they are enriching and expanding children’s experiences with literacy which directly influence life-long learning.” (Early Years Branch, 2014)
The training includes information on:
- characteristics of adult learners
- cultural competence
- creating a safe place for learning
- encouraging participation
- program planning
- evaluation
