A+ for Financial Literacy in November!

November is Financial Literacy Month and READ Saskatoon and Conexus Credit Union are encouraging parents and teachers to get involved in the conversation about how to strengthen the financial literacy skills of young people. During Financial Literacy Month, families across Saskatchewan are being invited to participate in the Family Financial Literacy Bingo Game, which helps families start the important conversations about budgeting, saving, investing, borrowing, and protecting money from fraud, in a fun, interactive way. Throughout the month, families will have a chance to win prizes by participating.

“Financial literacy is a critical life skill and is the foundation to navigating the financial world,” said Norm Duret, Branch Manager, Conexus Credit Union. “The Family Financial Literacy Bingo Card helps families start the conversation, and helps build the tools, knowledge and confidence needed to make smart money decisions as our youth get older.”

In addition to the Family Financial Literacy Bingo Card, READ Saskatoon will also have several public financial literacy workshops running across the province in November. Topics include budgeting and credit/debt repayment. Also occurring during the month is Financial Literacy Facilitator Training, a ‘Kitchen Conversation’ on zoom about what financial literacy means from the perspectives of a program participant, volunteer, and workshop facilitator, and workshops with four community organizations.
